Yuppiechef has come up with a great way to celebrate World Environment day and do good at the same time. If you like food, friends and contributing to the greater good then read on.

Here's What it's all about?

In short – Invite your friends, family and colleagues. Cook up a storm. Eat. Have fun. be merry. Then do some good.

Yuppiechef is inviting people to eat for the earth by hosting or attending a meal and making a donation. This donation goes towards a really cool organization called Soil For Life. The idea is that you should host or attend the meal on World Enviroment Day, 5 June, the most widely celebrated day for positive environmental action. To register go to eatfortheearth.com right now.

We think this is a smashing idea and worth getting involved in. And if you're not in it for the pure fun, there's also some hot prizes up for grabs. So there you have it. No excuse not to get involved.

Join the Eat for the Earth Facebook Event once you're registered to stay in the loop.

Yuppiechef. Eat for the earth.

Where the funds go

100% of funds raised through Eat for the Earth will go to Soil for Life, to help them keep up their good work and get people who need help growing their own food and eating well. Soil for life are an NGO and rely on funding to support their operations including:

  • running Soil for Life HQ (Cape Town)
  • employing trainers to teach people about soil and gardening
  • buying seeds, tools and material needed to start gardens

To give you an idea of how your donation could help a home gardener, here are some of the things that Soil for Life will be putting the money towards.

  • R25 = five packs of seed
  • R50 = two large bags of compost
  • R100 = a spade, fork, seedlings, herb plants or fruit trees saplings

Visit Soil for life's website to find out more and get in touch with them.

Aloha! I'm Carien. I live in South Africa in an area called the Swartland (Black Land). I live on a small holding (Homestead) and I am a full time house wife with one husband (yes, only one), one son, one dog, a few sheep and plenty of chickens. Living as natural as possible is a passion of mine. Inclined to a mostly organic vegetarian diet I tend to post healthy food recipes, green tips and information on natural and organic and natural living.

  1. Thank you for your support, and for writing about the initiative. We are excited for next week! 🙂
